Durrangan
We're delighted to report that the endangered southern right whale ("Durrangan" in Gathang language of local first nations) which has spent the past week in Wallis Lake near Forster-Tuncurry has made its way safely out to sea!
While it's special for such a magnificent animal to pop in for a visit, it’s great to see it continue on its travels.
We’d like to thank the community for its patience, support and positive response to the special protection order we issued earlier this week. We’d also like to thank the teams of experts and organisations involved in ensuring the whale’s safety.
