Smoking Barrels
Equalized.

Sleep flew beauty walked, light
timbers fell, squared
furry carpets, darkness
vines and wands and snakes and
kind blocks of stone and wood.

The mourning rose, however,
more thorn than flower
pricked awake as chords had broke
never went to sleep seeing
clear again,

Until this missed, messed
miss spoken doors and
apocalyptic river mist of locked skeleton
keys, paper thin, broken out,
Old Man Scene a Movie Screen
Equalized
dripping scorn and bile and hate and anger,
terror time, the plot , shot,
the neck, the voice, obedience
burning choking like
boa, the constrictor,
tight father's fingers unseen grip
equalized
